Frequently Asked Questions
1. What makes Veranda Home Care different from other agencies?
Veranda Home Care was intentionally designed to offer a more thoughtful, consistent, and high-standard care experience than traditional home care agencies.
Founder involvement from the start.
Every new client relationship begins with a personal, in-home consultation conducted by our founder. This ensures your family’s needs, preferences, and concerns are fully understood from day one—and that the care plan is built with intention, not assumptions.Rigorous caregiver selection.
We do not operate on a volume-based hiring model. Caregivers are carefully screened through a multi-step process that evaluates experience, judgment, discretion, communication style, and reliability. Only a small percentage of applicants meet our standards and are invited to work with our clients.Complimentary in-home safety assessment.
As part of our initial consultation, we provide a comprehensive, complimentary safety and wellness assessment of the home. This allows us to proactively identify potential risks, support independence, and recommend thoughtful adjustments that enhance comfort and safety.Caregiver continuity by design.
We prioritize consistency by intentionally matching clients with a primary caregiver or small, dedicated team. This reduces unnecessary caregiver rotation and allows trusting relationships to develop over time—something we believe is essential to high-quality care.
At Veranda, we don’t simply fill shifts. We actively manage care, remain closely involved, and work with families who value professionalism, stability, and discretion in their home.
2. What types of home care services do you offer?
At Veranda Home Care, we provide non-medical in-home support tailored to each client’s needs. Our core services include assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility support, meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping, errands, and companionship. Every care plan is customized, ensuring our clients receive both the reliable support they need and the elevated experiences they deserve.
3. Why choose an agency instead of hiring a caregiver privately?
Private caregivers can be wonderful, but when you hire privately, you're responsible for recruiting, background checks, payroll, taxes, workers' compensation, insurance, scheduling, and finding replacements if your caregiver becomes unavailable.
At Veranda Home Care, we provide more than a caregiver—we provide a trusted team. Every caregiver is carefully screened with background checks and reference verification, and our caregivers are employees who are insured, bonded, and covered by workers' compensation and liability insurance. We handle payroll, taxes, and all employment compliance, so families don't have to navigate the complexities and risks of being an employer.
We also provide:
Reliable backup coverage if a caregiver is sick, on vacation, or unavailable
Ongoing oversight and support to ensure care remains consistent as needs change
Scheduling and coordination, so you don't have to manage shift changes or coverage gaps
Caregiver matching, based on personality, experience, and specific care needs
Compliance with state licensing requirements and caregiver registration
Professional documentation and communication, keeping everyone informed and aligned
A trusted team behind the scenes, rather than relying on a single individual
While hiring privately may seem simpler, many families find that the peace of mind, accountability, and continuity provided by an agency are invaluable—especially as care needs become more complex.
4. Are your caregivers licensed and trained?
Yes. All our caregivers are fully licensed Home Care Aides with the California Department of Social Services. They are also background-checked, cleared with a current Tuberculosis exam, and professionally trained to provide safe, compassionate, and high-quality care.
5. Will it feel strange having a caregiver in my home?
For many people, this is one of the biggest concerns about starting home care—and that's completely understandable. Your home is your personal space, and inviting someone into it requires trust.
That's why we place such a strong emphasis on caregiver selection and compatibility. We take the time to understand each client's personality, routines, and preferences, then carefully match them with a caregiver who feels like the right fit. We're here to support your independence, respect your privacy, and help you feel at ease every step of the way.
